Have you ever thought about writing a book but don’t know where to begin? Have you published a book but have no idea how to market it?
(First published February 22nd, 2010 at contentrichbook.com’s blog) I recently interviewed Beth Barany, the go-to creative coach for writers. Check it out! 1. How did you get started helping other writers? I’ve always been...
Last October 2009, Cheryl Liquori and I got video taped for GuruTube.net. I had a great time! I have to admit, though, I was nervous. I was going to have a video clip on the same site as Guy Kawasaki and MC Hammer! (Our videos will be posted in a few weeks.)
Every adventure starts with preparation. I covered that step, Stage 1: Start From Where You Are, here. Today, let’s look at the next step, your first step into writign your book, Stage 2, Call to Adventure. Every book starts with a word. What is your WORD? Your passion? Your compelling message?
I write to know I exist. I write therefore I am. I write to dialogue with myself. I write to integrate the parts within. Writing in my journal is like reporting in from all sides.
Do you you want to write a book, or do you want to tell a story? Each one of these is a different motivating force. Each one not better or worse than the other. Know what motivates you. What motivates you? Having a message or creating a book?
Dafkah wrote a kind and well-thought out review on amazon. Thank you! Want to get your book done? Want the adventure to be enjoyable, not strenuous? Beth Barany’s book, The Writer’s Adventure Guide, is more of an interactive experience than a book.
Do you want to transform the world with your story? Are you ready to write your book now? If you answered YES to both these questions, then hang on for the ride of your life.
In addition to a website, newsletter, and a blog, authors can use social networking tools to connect with friends, make new friends, interact with readers, and gain new readers. In my previous Promotion Posse article (”Heart of the Bay,” January 2009), I wrote about how authors can use Facebook to network and market.
Writing is a form of teaching. I’m a teacher who loves to write. I’m a writer who loves to teach. Which am I? Both. Quantum entanglement, my husband, the high school physics teacher, would say.
Fall is a great time to think about and put in place new rituals for your creative writing.
Why are rituals an important part of our creative practices?
Twyla Tharp, in The Creative Habit: Use it and Learn it for Life, speaks of the power of the “ritual of preparation.”
The act of writing generates ideas, emotions, thoughts, feelings and images that tug at your heart and rouse you to laugh, cry, shout, or sing. And to vision. Though you may not know why...
You have a dream! You want to write a book. Congratulations! So now what? How do you go from great idea to great reality? With The Writer’s GMC, that’s how. Answer the questions below...
