Indie Authors: We Are Stronger Together

Together we are strongJust a quick shout out to all the cool online communities I’m part of that support my life as an indie author:

  • Shewrites.com: If you do join — yes, it’s free — connect with me! I just attended a cool live chat with other YA authors.
“Hosted by Ning, She Writes nurtures a growing community of women writers spanning location, experience, and age. Designed to foster community, professionally and socially, She Writes offers its members a number of ways of interacting.” Go to the site for more.
  • Writing Kindle Books Group on Facebook: With over 190 members, everyone is so generous and helpful, sharing resources, retweeting book launches and blog posts, and participating in Twitter’s #SampleSunday to share excerpts of each other’s books. You do need to be added by a current member. As long as you’re publishing at least on the Kindle, you can join. Write me via Facebook if you’d like me to invite you into the group.
  • Independent Author Network: Once accepted in, you can get your own page listing all your books. We support each other through retweeting and other publicity efforts. My page is here, if you’d like to see what your page could look like. More here at their FAQ page. I admit that I don’t use, yet, all their cool features.
  • Lastly, I run my own online community for writers: We Write Books. I’m launching my Spring 2011 courses with Social Media for Fiction Authors. More on that tomorrow!

More cool resources later!

I’ve already signed up for IAN but haven’t understood what it’s all about fully. I find I RT all the time while my tweets aren’t. 🙁

Anyway, glad to see this post. United we stand!
