How to Choose Your Story’s Structure webinar with Beth Barany

It’s easy to get blocked if you’re attempting to use a story structure that doesn’t work for the kind of story you want to tell and for the kind of writer you are.

When you find a storytelling structure that resonates with the kind of stories you want to tell and the way your mind works, that structure stimulates your imagination. And you can write your stories with so much more ease.

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore several storytelling structures, so you can set your creativity free. While story structure is not plot, story structure gives rise to plot.

Through explanations and examples, we’ll explore:

  • The Hero’s Journey
  • The Virgin Archetypal Journey
  • The Five-Point Plot Structure
  • The Five Commandments of Storytelling.

We’ll also cover how each structure relates to the others and how “obligatory scenes” for your genre fit into these structures.

You’ll have time to sketch out an idea with each of the structures to experiment with each one and see how they work for you. We’ll discuss and share experiences.
