Healthy Writers Club: Dealing with Life’s Curveballs

The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy by Elizabeth MoonInspired by Josh Clark’s article on the site,, I’ve been doing a Couch-to-5K training since Oct 2012.

Last week I finished WEEK #4, BUT skipped one day. I decided to do WEEK #4 again this week, but…

My husband broke his clavicle and that set off all kinds of medical visits and stress.

I didn’t work out. I didn’t go to Capoeira. My plantar fasciitis has been feeling worse.

So, I took it easy.

Now, Shallee started the Healthy Writers Club to encourage us and keep us accountable to moving and working out, AND to share how that connects to writing.

So I’ll comment on the writing part. Even though I haven’t worked out I’ve working on my fiction and nonfiction projects and blog posts. And, I read three novels, The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy by Elizabeth Moon. I guess I needed the inspiration. It worked in terms of keeping my spirits high — mostly —  and to staying in touch with my own creativity.

I also don’t feel bad that I didn’t work out because I remembered how during my sprint triathlon training I did with See Jane Run that there were times I took it easy and I still crossed that finish line —  4 times in 2 years!

How are you taking care of both your body and your spirit this week?
