Was this you? At seven, did you say, When I grow up I want to write and produce a popular newsletter with over 10,000 contacts that I work to scrub weekly.
Taking the Plunge – NaNoWriMo. I’ve made up my mind to participate in this year’s NaNoWriMo, the challenge where hearty and fearless writers commit to writing an entire novel during the month of November.
How/where can I focus? Where is the best place to write? When is the best time to write? How can I increase my productivity?
I wrote one blog on the tools one can use for productivity before at and all of those tools still stand. They’re all great. What I found was that I used too many at once and that didn’t end up working well for me as I spent more time inputting and checking off than was necessary.
To make a big splash in today’s literary world, genre mixing is essential to a writer. Like a chemist, contrarian writers must mix many story elements to produce a powerful and fresh literary work. Premise and POV (point of view) must be chosen first, but then another critical choice awaits the writer.
So this year I ignored the inner voices and entered competitions, submitted to journals, wrote stories I didn’t know how to write, and agreed to do things I wasn’t 100% sure I could do.
