Hey everyone, Beth Barany here. Welcome to How To Write the Future podcast. I’m a bit under the weather today. So there is no Beth on camera segment for YouTube, but on YouTube, you’ll see pretty pictures that accompany everything that I am saying. This podcast is for people who care about the future and specifically targeted for science fiction and fantasy writers who are thinking about and wanting to create positive, optimistic futures.

Today is a special episode. I’m going to talk a little bit about my upcoming film project, a little bit why I’m making this project, and some exciting news about our upcoming fundraiser.

So for those of you who may know me only as a writing teacher. Yeah. I wear that hat. As a creativity coach, a writing teacher specialized in helping science fiction and fantasy writers.

I’ve helped all kinds of writers. And of course, I am also a writer and a novelist.

My mission as a novelist.

So now I’m calling myself a writer, a producer, a director. And I create magical tales of romance, mystery, and adventure to empower you to be the hero of your own life. I specifically am focused on empowering women and girls, because I love seeing action stories with women and girls. And those are the kinds of stories I write.

I am an award-winning novelist.

And I’m very excited to be working on this film that is featuring my heroine Henrietta The Dragon Slayer. I’ve written a trilogy about her and her friends and their adventures, young adult adventure fantasy. It’s good for ages 12 and up. And it’s all about friendship and overcoming the odds and becoming a leader and standing up for what’s right.

I’ve also written five sweet paranormal romances. And. so far four books in my science fiction mystery series about Janey McCallister space station investigator.

Which I ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for the fourth book in my Janey McCallister mystery series. All that to say, I am really excited to let you know that I am creating a film, based on Henrietta the Dragon Slayer. And it is a 10 to 15-minute short film that’s actually the teaser to a TV pilot that I want to create. So we’re creating the teaser as its own story.

And just a little bit about that story.

In a high desert battleground, a bad-ass war hero must trust magic instead of her instincts as she battles to free her best friend from a demon chimera in a mountain cave.

These are brand new adventures of Henrietta The Dragon Slayer and her friends.

In a high desert battleground, Franc a knight tormented by nightmares disappears, Henrietta, a bad-ass war hero, discovers clues, leading to a treacherous cliffside cave, and a menacing chimera. With the power of a mysterious necklace, she confronts the beast to save Franc and prove her worth as protector.

We’re really excited to bring this story to you. We have a casting call out now. We’ll be making a monster with either a puppet or a stop motion, which is really exciting.

And then lastly, we have a crew, a local crew that, we have come together with the support of the founder of Reel Stories, Esther Pearl, and Bay Area Video Coalition, Dawn Lopez, coming together and some other local support, and we’re going to make this movie.

So I’m very excited to share with you that we will be launching a Kickstarter really soon.
