For science fiction and fantasy authors who want to create optimistic stories

Talk to a writing coach.

When we vision what is possible, we help make it so.

Gain clarity, so you can write, revise, and proudly publish your novels to the delight of your readers.

You may be in one or several of these places:

  1. 1
You want to start your novel, but you're not sure where to begin. You may have been dabbling or outlining or just thinking about your novel for a loooong time. You yearn to start a writing practice that fulfills your dream of being a writer.
  2. 2
You're ready to finish your novel, but aren't sure how. The first draft is almost done, but you're stumped on the story or frozen with concern about what happens when you finish this draft. Like editing. How does one editing a novel?! So many decisions!
  3. 3
You want to publish your novel, but you're overwhelmed by your options. Traditional publishing? Self-publishing? Hybrid?
  4. 4
You need book marketing guidance and aren’t sure where to begin. Social media? Ads? Blogging? Newsletters?!

Steps to how we work

Fill out the Discovery Questionnaire

By answering the questions in the form below, you'll gain clarity before we speak, and you'll be helping me get to know you better.

Schedule Your Call

On the Thank You page (also in the Thank You email), you'll receive a schedule link. Pick the time that works best for you.

Note: I'm scheduled out usually 3-4 weeks, as I'm a working novelist too.

Show up for Your Discovery Call

In our conversation, I'll ask questions like:

What inspires you?

What are your writing goals and dreams?

How do you learn best?

What’s in your way of not working on your fiction?

What can we do about it?

What programs, courses, or other forms of support are right for you?

And more!

We can talk by phone or Zoom.

Or if you’re in Oakland, you can come by my favorite cafe for our chat. Just indicate that when you schedule.

Once you fill out the short questionnaire, you’ll get the link to schedule your session. Once you do that, you’ll get an email confirming your appointment.

Because things come up, if you can’t make your appointment, please give me at least 24 hours notice, or forfeit rescheduling this call. I take my time very seriously — I am a working writer too, as well as a running my own teaching and coaching business — and request that you honor your time as well.

Do you still have questions? Cool. Contact me with the form below.

It is my passion to help novelists.

Storytelling for me is a 24/7 obsession -- I love reading, watching movies, TV shows, talking walks, meandering in new areas, traveling, speaking French, puttering in my garden, watching space launches...

I love writing -- the process with all it's ups and downs. And I love teaching other writers the entire process, too.

Process is about breaking things down into their tiniest bits and choosing what can be done right now.

For fun, Beth loves walking her hilly neighborhood, puttering in her garden, and watching YouTube videos about the space industry. Beth lives in Oakland, California with her husband, Ezra Barany, also a novelist, and their cats.
