So You Want to Run a Virtual Book Tour

Lots of authors I talk to wonder if a blog tour or virtual book tour is right for them. They wonder if they should run their own tour, or hire someone. They wonder if it’s even worth it to run a virtual book tour. While I can’t make those decisions for you, I can help you think through the criteria and share resources.

Criteria for Deciding Whether or Not to Do a Virtual Book (or Blog) Tour

Step 1: Know your purpose for doing a blog tour.

Do you want sales? Blog tours aren’t the best for that unless you already have a large following.

Do you want visibility? Blog tours are a good way to find new readers, get new followers, and get reviews.

Step 2: Clarify your budget and time availability.

You know best how much time and money you can set aside for a blog tour. Some considerations:

  • If you have no time and some marketing funds, consider hiring someone knowledgeable to help you.
  • If you have limited funds and more time, considering investing in learning how to run a tour yourself and go for it.
  • If you have limited time and money, consider creating a short or informal blog tour.
  • If you have an abundance of both time and money, then think big and have a big blog tour!

Step 3: Take action.

What’s your next step? Have you decided what to do? Do you still have questions? Ask them below!
