When You Find Yourselves Blocked, Add Some Play!
Welcome to our guest author, Alara Castell. I met her recently at my keynote presentation at FEM Talks (Berkeley, CA), and loved her vivacious and contagious enthusiasm for life. She graciously agreed to share some of her wonderful energy with us. Enjoy!

Being a writer isn’t easy! You are in front of the computer for hours typing away, creating amazing pieces for your audiences to read. I know there are moments where it can be frustrating and you can get writer’s block. Instead of stepping away from the piece you are creating, you may sit there staring at the screen, pulling your hair out and angry with yourself.
This is no way to create. Writers need inspiration. Writers need freedom. Writers need to take care of themselves and play. It’s one thing to sit there all day long and type away, but to keep the words flowing through your mind and heart with ease, you need to give yourself permission to walk away and play.
WHAT PLAY CAN DO FOR YOU…
• Play brings laughter and joy into your life.
• Play induces a state of openness, readiness, alertness and anticipation.
• Play helps to solve problems rather than being besieged by them. Problems shrink and solutions are achieved faster.
• Play increases the appetite for new experiences. You begin to search for fresh challenges that help you learn new skills and discover talents you didn’t know you had.
• Play helps you to be innovated and creative. You see new opportunities where you might not have seen any before.
• Play defuses stress and tension to help you achieve better workflow. Positive neuro-chemicals flood your brain and body to help you maintain resilience and endurance and keep your mind clear and sharp.
Play can do so much for you mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I invite you right now to share with me…
1) What are you going to do for yourself today?
2) What type of play will you incorporate?
Remember play is what brings you joy and laughter. It is what will allow you to create with ease. Will dance bring you that? Will arts & crafts bring you that? What will? You have full permission.
