Envision Your Author Success
One of my friends is a successful branding specialist, and recently sent out his newsletter sharing how he’s preparing to go on a vision quest and how vision can help his clients shape their businesses.
I agree, and think the tools of visioning the we fiction writers use in our stories can be applied to our careers — can be applied to the business side of our lives.
Here is what he shared:
Visionquest = Brandquest
As I prepare to journey on my own personal visionquest, I am reminded of exactly how this plays out for the development of a brand.
The elements of the visionquest include a pattern interrupt from the typical day to day events:
- Social Isolation—Removing yourself from the people of your life that you interact with on a daily basis to find a grounding in your core self
- Sensory Isolation—Removing yourself from the environment that your mind is typically accustomed to. Be that familiar home, music, languages, cultures, etc.
- ‘The Impossible Goal’ —The target of the visionquest towards a new solution that might seem impossible to reach or that needs a totally new approach. Something that you aspire to with a solution that you must surrender your knowledge, your past habits, your old ways of thinking in order to reach it
- Faith and Humility—Finally, because you’re so stripped of the familiar and so humbled by the goal—a deep faith and a deep gratitude for the blessings on the path allow exactly the openness required to accomplish the leap to your solution.
It is my conviction that the branding discovery process I call The Dig™ mirrors exactly this process on the personal level. Have you invited magic into your life through your own Visionquest/Brandquest? Make the time for renewal as you ‘shape shift’ through the marketplace with an ever supple and evolving brand that is ever rooted to its core.
