What’s up with Ebook Pricing?
On Ebook Pricing by JA Konrath: “I thought I would distill my thoughts into a new blog entry, and explain why I believe $2.99 is the new ebook standard.”
JA Konrath offers the nuts and bolts on current thought, and a bit of history, on ebook and print book pricing.
I love this bit:
“Set realistic goals, experiment, learn from mistakes, keep and open mind, and most of all, write a lot of good books. I believe 99.9% of writers have a better chance to make more money in this new market than they did in the old one.”
What do you think of ebook pricing? Do you buy a lot of ebooks? And if so, how do you read them? To answer my nosy questions, please take my poll in one of the right-hand widgets. Thanks! And all your comments, complaints, and concerns are welcome in the comments of this post. So, rant away!
I purchased my first e-book about 3 months ago, when I got the iPad. I don’t really like reading the books on my computer (though I do use it for programming reference reading).
I LOVE being able to download and read books on my iPad. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much. The real kicker for me was being able to share books, annotations, and bookmarks with my husband using the Kindle Reader.
I think $2.99 (the price of a comic book, or a paperback when I was a kid!) is really close to the “right” price.
