Massive Chaos of Intricate Perfection

These polar extremes actually embody one another. In Chaos Theory, chaos is depicted as a series of intricately perfect patterns.

Both extremes reside within every human being; one the shadow of the other. Together, they allow us to fully create. Ideally, they work in tandem when we set them in motion. As writers, we use our myriad of random experiences to create unique story: chaos harnessed and woven into a schema of perfection – the tightly written, deeply layered, descriptive tale.

Writers need the synchronicity of mind, body and spirit to achieve this end. Using our minds, we sort through our experiences, rearrange, mix, and mold them. Using our hands, we allow the flow of words to move out through our fingers onto the page. And using our spirits, we infuse each finely crafted sentence with meaning. Thus sorted, chaos reveals itself as perfection.

Synchronize your mind, body and spirit before sitting down to work, so you may experience the joy of chaos transforming into perfection through your own writing.

Anyone out there experience this type of chaos weeks, days, moments before sitting down and setting to work on a story? Have you experienced the fog lifting, the particles sorting in your mind and the words flowing out of you as you inextricably, and as if by magic, create a work of clarity, depth and meaning?

I often experience a sense of anxiety and the desire to run in the other direction based on a vague sense of fear. I usually know the fear if caused by the daunting project ahead, and once I clearly realize that, the fear, like a fog, lifts, and I get to work.
