I have recently had a couple of invitations to do more and I\u2019m looking forward to working on them.<\/p>\n<p>If you are new to blogging, guest blogging might feel a bit daunting, especially if you are still\u00a0<i>finding your voice<\/i>\u00a0on your own blog. But if it is something that you are interested in doing then here\u2019s a few tips I\u2019ve picked up. They\u2019re a mix of thoughts on an online\u00a0<i>blogchat*<\/i>\u00a0I was in on, a great article** I read recently and generally from my experience.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Remember it\u2019s a privilege \u2013<\/b>\u00a0Would you hand over the password to your blog and say\u2026\u00a0<i>\u201chere you go, write what you like?\u201d<\/i>\u00a0I doubt it. I bet your blog is way too precious for that. The chance to express yourself in someone else\u2019s space and to their audience is a great opportunity and we shouldn\u2019t forget that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Take your time and find the right place for you<\/b>\u00a0&#8211; There are millions of blogs out there, so take some time to look around and find the one that suits you best. I don\u2019t necessarily mean the one that you feel YOU will benefit most from. More the one that you feel you can really bring something to. Read plenty of posts, including guest posts and get a good feel for what makes readers engage with and respond to that blog.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Provide a bio \u2013\u00a0<\/b>it doesn\u2019t have to be lengthy; just a few honest lines about yourself with info about how folk can contact you. And don\u2019t be shy, make sure to add a photo\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Make your guest post a the best piece of quality work you can<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 work as hard, in fact work harder on a guest blogpost than a post for your own blog. Do your research, make sure you know your subject well. Be sure to credit sources and photos. Proofread it, proofread it again, then give it to someone else to proofread. Read it out loud to yourself and don\u2019t press that \u2018send\u2019 button until it\u2019s the best bit of writing it can be.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Spread the word, pop back &amp; interact<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 If you\u2019re on social media (and if you\u2019re a blogger you should be!) make sure to share a link to the post. Don\u2019t flood the web, but you can do it a few times for a week or so to maximise exposure for you and your host blogger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Always go back to check in on the posts and make sure to read and respond to any comments. If your post has sparked a reaction or discussion you\u2019re very lucky &#8211; so get right in there and be part of it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>A word to those who would like to host a guest blogger \u2013\u00a0<\/b>you need to have a realistic understanding of the popularity of your own blog.
