\nI resist opening Daniel Pink’s new book, TO SELL IS HUMAN<\/a>. But I bought it, I’m drawn to it, so I finally crack it open, but not in the beginning. I have to read it out of order, to maintain my irrational defiance.<\/p>\n

Then I fall upon the section, “Clarity” and I”m immediatley drawn in.<\/p>\n

Because Daniel is addressing something I deeply care abuot: Clarity, and asking good questions.<\/p>\n

So i get to practice his first teaching right away, here, and I paraphrase:<\/p>\n

Questions 1: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 meaning ‘not the least bit ready’ and 10 meaning ‘totally ready’, how ready am I to read Daniel’s book?<\/p>\n

Question 2: “Why didn’t you pick a lower number?”<\/p>\n

My answer: Uh, I dont’ want to own that I am and can be excellent at sales. Because that would mean… not sure what. I’m a bad peson? I’d be disappointing my family that shuns making money? But I like making money!!<\/p>\n

Which bring su sto Daniel Pnk’s next point: That we start talking ourselves into the very thing we think we don’t want to do.<\/p>\n
