Annnd<\/i> my series<\/strong>, Beyond the Rough Draft, is finally out there in the internet ether, almost five months after I recorded the interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a world overflowing with content, I didn\u2019t see many podcasts or video series made for people like me — writers who want, more than anything, to be recognized for their craft, yet struggle silently with insecurity, doubt, and creative paralysis.<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t deny it:<\/strong> I was terrified to release this interview series. But it was the kind of scared that\u2019s mixed with excitement, if that makes sense.<\/p>\n

Why I Created Beyond the Rough Draft<\/i><\/h2>\n

Beyond the Rough Draft is about the writing struggles that everyone faces, which means a lot to me.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a topic I hold near and dear<\/strong> to my heart and one I\u2019m still personally battling.<\/p>\n

I wanted to create a space where we could talk about those struggles openly.<\/p>\n

A safe place where writers and authors can connect, be vulnerable, and remind each other that writing isn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n

Nothing creative ever is.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes, just talking about it with people who get it<\/i> can reignite your motivation to keep wading through the uncertainty.<\/p>\n

The Fear Behind the Launch<\/h2>\n

Of course, I was scared.<\/p>\n

I was scared of how it would<\/strong> be received, scared of the feedback, scared of being seen.<\/p>\n

Putting any passion project out there is terrifying, especially when it\u2019s deeply personal.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always admired creators who make video series, but I never imagined I\u2019d be one of them.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not exactly camera-friendly<\/i><\/strong>, and I\u2019ve always preferred to be behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

But sometimes circumstances change.<\/p>\n

And sometimes, discomfort is exactly what pushes you to grow.<\/p>\n

I realized that what I\u2019m doing fills a gap.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s something that\u2019s missing<\/strong> from the conversation, so here I am, taking the uncomfortable plunge.<\/p>\n

Gratitude for the People Who Believed in Me<\/h2>\n

I have to thank the lovely Amandeep Ahuja, who bravely and enthusiastically became the first guest for an absolute novice host.<\/p>\n

Her warm demeanor<\/strong> and kind presence immediately put me at ease.<\/p>\n

Thank you, Amandeep, for your faith in me and in this series.<\/p>\n

A huge thank you also goes to Beth Barany.<\/p>\n

My client, mentor, and the one who gave me the final push to make this happen.<\/p>\n

When I first pitched the idea<\/strong>, it was meant for her<\/i>.<\/p>\n

I suggested she start a series about the struggles of creative writing or maybe pass the concept to someone else.<\/p>\n

I imagined myself helping behind the scenes, not in front of the camera.<\/p>\n

But as soon as I told her about it, she said:<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat, do it!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I probably looked like a deer caught in headlights, but now I realize she was right.<\/p>\n

I was<\/i> the best person to host this because I understand the struggle firsthand.<\/p>\n

Having these conversations helps me just as much as I hope they help my guests and the people watching.<\/p>\n

Authenticity is key.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So thank you, Beth, for believing in an overthinking, camera-shy individual like me, and for partnering with me on Beyond the Rough Draft<\/i> under your brand.<\/p>\n

My Hope for the Series<\/h2>\n

My wish is that people connect with this series, that they see we all struggle, and that they find community and inspiration here.<\/p>\n

And most importantly: finish what you started.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pick up that half-finished shitty work-in-progress, and finish it anyway.<\/p>\n

Or chase that new idea<\/strong> that\u2019s been haunting you because those worlds and characters won\u2019t leave you alone for a reason.<\/p>\n

Finding My Way Back to Writing<\/h2>\n

I\u2019m slowly but surely getting back to my manuscript.<\/p>\n

The doubt is still there<\/strong>, it always will be but I feel most like my authentic self when I\u2019m writing.<\/p>\n

And if Beyond the Rough Draft<\/i> can help even one person feel that same spark again, then every moment of fear was worth it.<\/p>\n
