There\u2019s the book you want to write and the book a publisher will buy. Are they the same book?<\/p>\n

If you can answer the following 4 questions to a publisher\u2019s liking<\/strong>, it may be possible for you to snag a book deal.<\/p>\n

1. How current is your topic?<\/h2>\n

Are you addressing an issue that is relevant in the media right now?<\/p>\n

For example<\/strong>, recently, books on \u2018The Great Resignation\u2019 were hot in the business book market.<\/p>\n

As that wave diminished, business publishers were asking for books related to \u2018Quiet Quitting.\u2019 Currently, the term, \u2018Quiet Hiring\u2019 is being bandied about by some of the top business publishers.<\/p>\n

2. Are you addressing a pain point for your target market reader?<\/h2>\n

Think about the self-talk going through the heads of your potential readers.<\/p>\n
