Busy has a curious appeal.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our culture, busy is not only honored, but also supported and reinforced &#8211; think of the click bait coming at you every day:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top Five Fast Recipes for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Families<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> People Get More Done<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quick Makeup Tips for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Women (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Would that one make you click even if the others didn\u2019t?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The problem for us is that being <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">busy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has drawbacks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cost of Busy-ness\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve witnessed business partners and clients work so hard and be so busy they end up doing, then undoing, then re-doing the same tasks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Endlessly re-creating the same idea into slightly different iterations<\/strong>, never making any real progress except to be busy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which then gives rise to the second most common lament&#8211; \u201cI\u2019m so busy, but I never seem to get anything done.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy-ness is fashionable.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy is a look.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also a frantic, unsustainable way to live.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>You know this,<\/strong> but how is it even possible to slow down when there are so many obligations pulling you in seven different directions?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a few minutes and consider what exactly are the main activities that fuel your super busy day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Busy-ness Alternative<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make a list.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Journaling or just writing on the back of a Costco receipt, will help.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write down everything that makes you feel crazy busy:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work projects<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Household chores<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family obligations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your wonderful busy children<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Netflix binges do not count)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are your goals, and what are your real goals for these activities?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earn money or achieve career advancement?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A clean house or a perfect house?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Happy children or Instagram children?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Busyness\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you are clear on the real goals, re-consider the busy part of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What can you ease up on?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are all the work projects equally critical?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can you accept the work of your team without lurching forward and \u201cfixing\u201d it?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do you need an Pinterest living room or one that is comfortable?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are the children happy, do they still love all their activities?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of chores, perfection, or projects, what would you like to do instead?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>It could be writing your book,<\/strong> but it also could be an afternoon sitting still and listening to the birds.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Price of Busy-ness<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Busy creates its own <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fear Of Missing Out <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(FOMO) closed loop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is super busy the hamster wheel you want to run on?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Or would you rather say<\/strong>&#8212;
