On to Our Interview!<\/span><\/h2>\n

Q: Tell us who you are and what inspires you to write.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. Hi there. I’m Amanda Arthur Krill. I’m a mom to three teenagers, I’ve been married for 25 years and I have always loved to write.<\/span><\/p>\n

I haven’t always had the guts to write – in fact, in college I used to turn papers in and run out of the room so I wouldn’t have to actually see my professors reading what I wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, I got over it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The urge to keep writing and the need to be heard was more powerful than any fears I’ve ever had.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: How did you get to this place in your life? Share your story!\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. The short version of that story is that 16 years ago I had 2 toddlers + a baby and $64k in credit card debt that my husband didn’t know about.<\/span><\/p>\n

I started writing, then a Virtual Assistant business, followed by a Web Design business, all while writing on the side.<\/span><\/p>\n

2 years ago I wrote a book about my debt journey (I paid it off in under 3 years!) and started working on my current book because every time I read a story about another woman who did something amazing, I felt that more people needed to know about them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What are you most passionate about?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. I am extremely passionate about helping women realize and thrive in their own power.<\/span><\/p>\n

I want women to have the same opportunities that men have, without the need for them to use their “feminine wiles” to get further in life.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I want my daughter, my granddaughter and all the daughters after to live in a world where all of that is possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your writing process, routine, and\/or rituals around your writing?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. Oh, I’m not sure I have one that would work for anyone else.<\/span><\/p>\n

I write intensely until I run out of steam. Sometimes a few days, weeks, even a month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then I completely forget what I was doing, distracted by another project.<\/span><\/p>\n

When I remember again, I’m on fire again and write non-stop.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cycle repeats until the book is done. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 What are a few challenges you faced in creating, marketing, or publishing your creative work? And your solutions to them.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. Getting the word out, and sticking with the marketing is the biggest challenge for me.<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, I just make things and then forget to talk about them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I don’t recommend this strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What’s next for you in your creative work?<\/span><\/h2>\n

A. Feisty & Non-Compliant: Volumes 2-4.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve got a lot more women to write about!<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know that Amelia Earhart had no interest in airplanes until her dad convinced her to take a ride at an airshow?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or that Jane Goodall didn’t have any scientific degrees and only got the gig with the chimpanzees because she was a secretary with no scientific bias?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or that Fannie Lou Hamer’s path to becoming an activist for civil rights happened because she was the only sharecropper who could read?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or that Annie Oakley really became a household name because her husband wasn’t intimidated by the fact that she was a better shot than he was?<\/span><\/p>\n

Me either.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that’s why writing this book series was so important to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because most little girls aren’t raised to think that they should take risks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or that they should trust their instincts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or that they shouldn’t minimize their intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to change that.<\/span><\/p>\n
