They helped define who I was as a person. I trusted them, and they were always there when I needed them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Six years ago<\/strong>, when I decided to become a \u201creal\u201d writer, and by \u201creal\u201d I mean someone who published her works instead of letting them collect dust inside a long forgotten flash drive, I knew I\u2019d have to trust that the words wouldn\u2019t abandon me, but hey, these were my words and we\u2019d been through so much together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believed the words would stand ready to dance in a way they\u2019d never danced before. All I had to do was give the command.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a while the words behaved. They tapped, waltzed, twirled, and twisted through the pages of my<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/kindle-dbs\/entity\/author\/B01DFGP1FE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> first four novels<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the Words Won\u2019t Come\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But now they\u2019ve had enough. They\u2019re tired of all the new dance moves I demand of them. They complain they weren\u2019t meant to learn how to salsa, or perform Irish jigs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They want a vacation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Which leaves me where I am today<\/strong>. Alone. Wordless.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The words are gone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oh, I\u2019ve tried all the self-help suggestions: take a walk, paint, read, visit an old friend, write in a journal, try word sprints, meditate, eat ice cream, drink gin and tonic until it forms the bulk of my blood. You get my drift. I\u2019ve done them all.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And still the words won\u2019t come.\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019ve abandoned me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now what?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">***<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Editor\u2019s note<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: I have the deepest compassion for what you\u2019re going through.
