\"Indie<\/a>In no particular order, here are some resources I’ve come across recently that have helped inform my life as in indie novelist and my life as coach and consultant to authors.<\/p>\n

Educate yourself. Get to know the lay of the land. Get informed! Being an indie author is a business folks, so let’s get writing and publishing.<\/p>\n

  1. Author Virna DePau<\/strong>l<\/a> offers useful Cheat Sheets, her latest on the pros and cons of self-publishing. Sign up for her newsletter to get it.<\/li>\n
  2. Author Zoe Winters offer sage and witty advice\u00a0 in her book, Smart Self-Publishing: Becoming an Indie Author<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Author and teacher Kristen Lamb writes a good book on social media for indie and traditional publishers alike: We Are Not Alone: The Writer’s Guide to Social Media<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  4. The Independent Authors Network<\/strong><\/a> is a great way to get some attention and connect with other indie authors. I’m there!<\/a><\/li>\n
  5. A blog by multiple authors: The Self Publishing Revolution <\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  6. A yahoo group discussing everything self-publishing: <\/strong>This discussion forum is a community of authors and small presses interested or involved in publishing and marketing their own work and that of others. It is sponsored by SPAN<\/strong><\/a>. Both newcomers and veterans welcome. Subscribe<\/strong><\/span> by sending an email to Self-Publishing-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.<\/li>\n
  7. No list would be complete without one of the most outspoken proponents of self-publishing, JA Konrath. His blog, A Newbie’s Guide to Self-Publishing<\/strong><\/a>, is a wealth of information, news and clear-eyed assessment of the whole publishing industry.<\/li>\n
  8. Keep up with what’s going on in the indie publishing industry, Publetariat: People Who Publish<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n
  9. I’ve just discover IndieReader.com<\/strong><\/a>, a site that review independently published book that\u00a0 have been vetted for quality.<\/li>\n
  10. Lastly but by no means least in this random list, Publishing Perspectives<\/strong><\/a> offers an international view of the whole publishing industry. The big picture! My favorite!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
