START HERE<\/h2>\n

Keep in mind<\/strong>\u00a0your genre and review the information you drafted about your\u00a0characters and your world.<\/p>\n

Set aside time:<\/strong> I recommend you spend\u00a0at least of\u00a020\u00a0minutes<\/strong>\u00a0to do this exercise for your story.<\/p>\n

Design Your Plot with the Problem-Solution tool<\/h2>\n

I wanted to write a novel, but I didn’t know where to begin. So I found the book, The Weekend Novelist<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and used it as a guide to write every weekend to get going. One of the tools I really liked was the “problem-solution” tool, helping me design my story plot in a quick way. Plot was so confusing to me. This tool helped me get a handle on it.<\/p>\n

Here’s how it works:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Create problem-solution pairs.<\/p>\n

START YOUR STORY<\/strong><\/p>\n

What’s the starting problem of your story?<\/p>\n

What’s the solution to this immediate problem?<\/p>\n

What problem is caused by this solution?<\/p>\n

Create a new solution,<\/p>\n

which creates a new problem.<\/p>\n

This leads to a new solution,<\/p>\n

new problem…<\/p>\n

etc. until you get to your story resolution.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Design your plot with the problem-solution tool and find your way into your story.<\/p>\n
